S.T.E.A.M. Program

Burlington Middle School is proud to have their own S.T.E.A.M Program with elective class offerings for 7th and 8th grade students.   S.T.E.A.M. focuses hands-on activities and seeks the interactions and relationships between the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.   Students who particiate in this program challenge their minds throughout the year as they invent machines, design video games, create and program robotics, explore hydraulics and pneumatics, design 3D printed objects, develop art through agamagraphs, and computers/math algorithms, and much more.

“I thought it was STEM… Why add Arts?  We believe that the Arts play a great role in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.   An architect can engineer a building, but if it isn’t esthetically pleasing it isn’t a good design.   There is mathematics in music, and dance, and there is harmonics in engineering.  Technology can create great art through digital images, animation, and 3D printing.  Art can be seen throughout science in nature, animal adaptations, the organization of the human body systems, chemical reactions and more.
