USD 244 begins our mask optional choice today in our buildings for students, staff, and visitors. USD 244 will continue many health safety features such as social distancing as much as possible, cleaning high touch surfaces, and hand washing/sanitizing throughout the day.
Please remember that if someone at school tests positive for COVID, USD 244 will follow the current health guidelines from KDHE and the Coffey County Health Department. Everyone within 6 feet of the positive person for more then 10 consecutive minutes will be subject to a 10-day quarantine per Coffey County Health Department requirements. Quarantine guidelines go back 2 days from the onset of symptoms. If the close contact has been vaccinated, both parties are wearing a mask, or the close contact has recovered after testing positive for COVID in the past 6 months, then quarantine rules don’t apply. If you have any questions, you can contact the Coffey County Health Department.
The USD 244 community of students, staff, and patrons have done an amazing job keeping our schools in On-Site learning this school year. Our absence rate has been very low throughout this school year. COVID + cases are zero in our county right now. These results have allowed us to make masks optional in our schools starting today.
Please remember that whenever we travel to other towns for activities we will be respectful of their rules and guidelines. Also, please remember that optional masks are in place right now. This may change if we see an increase in COVID + cases or problems with other health issues.
If you have any questions, please contact me at email@example.com or 620-364-8478 EXT. 3040.
